As you may already know the Motorola Droid 4 was only released a couple of days ago and yet it has already been exploited and rooted. The $200, 1.2 GHz dual core processor, running Android 2.5.3 with 4G LTE phone has a reputation for having locked boot-loaders but that did not stop Dan Rosenberg a security researcher from exploiting the device.
The method is Windows-only for now, but it’s simple enough.
How to Root Motorola Droid 4
1. Go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and enable USB Debugging mode on your Droid 4.
2. Now connect your Motorola Droid 4 to your PC via USB.
3. Download Dan Rosenberg’s Droid 4 Exploit for Windows, motorfail_windows.zip
4. Extract the contents of the above downloaded .zip file.
5. Now Execute run.bat file and wait for it to complete the rest of the process.
